OK, so I've gotten a new cam just before Christmas the previous year to serve as the main transport to my digital pensieve. I won't mention what unit I got coz that would entail an entirely different post.
Anyway... wanna get the actuation count of your Canon EOS 40D?
Opanda wouldn't (or couldn't) show it if... I've tried. Nikon DSLR users sure are lucky when it comes to shutter actuations and EXIF data.
Flickr has a mind of its own... if and when it decides to show your cam's actuation count.
However, the 40D Shutter Count program, as of this writing, seems to be the only software than can do the job
What to do?
- Download the 40D Shutter Count, Version 2 from here.
- Extract the executable file.
- Make sure that the Canon EOS Utility software is installed. If not, hunt for the CD in your 40D's box. It's gotta be in there somewhere.
- Copy the extracted executable file to the folder where the Canon EOS Utility software is installed. Usually it's C:\Program Files\Canon\EOS Utility. Pay attention, this step is very important.
- Run the executable file you have just copied.
- Follow the instructions. Click on the Get Count button and the actuation count should appear next to it.
The result I got was accurate... and I'm still not telling you what cam I got.
Finally, I hope your jaw doesn't drop when you see the actuation count. ^_^
